Today I passed out and reviewed fifteen vocabulary words essential for understanding act 1. We discussed the concept of the forestage and viewed some photos of various Death of a Salesman sets.
We then got down to the business of assigning parts and beginning act 1.

After a brief review of the vocabulary and some further background on Arthur Miller we continued with Act 1. Today's action centered on Biff and Happy as they relived past glories and worried about their increasingly erratic father.

With grades due, I allowed the class to study for tomorrow's vocabulary quiz and get going on their independent reading novels. I met with each student and discussed their first quarter grade and set goals for the next marking period.
Friday, 11.14.08
The vocabulary quiz was followed with a return to Act I of Death of a Salesman. The depth of Willy's flashbacks increased in intensity as Willy conjures his deceased brother Ben, while having an actual conversation with his laconic neighbor Charlie.
